How to Use Route Monitoring with Google Navigation

If you need navigation to reach a target location while recording measurements along the way, follow these steps: Open the RM2 app, start Google Navigation (either via the action in the menu of RM2 or separately in the Google Maps itself), and then minimize it into “Picture-in-Picture” mode, ensuring the RM2 application remains visible. This approach is necessary because Android restricts the rapid updating of GPS locations when an application is running in the background (minimized). By using this method, you can effectively utilize both the RM2 recording functionality and Google Navigation.
